About Us

The Live Well Foundation of South Lake is a private health-focused foundation created to strengthen long-term wellness, healthcare access, and quality of life in South Lake County. Formed through an agreement between Orlando Health and the former South Lake Memorial Hospital organization. Live Well received an initial contribution of $128 million at inception and the Foundation emerged as a sustainable successor to the South Lake County Hospital District after its 2019 dissolution.

Governed by a dedicated 12-member board and led by Executive Director Donna Kirtland, the Foundation stewards a substantial investment portfolio rather than relying on public fundraising, enabling strategic, data-driven grantmaking that supports durable improvements in community health. Now operating as a private foundation (as of 2025), Live Well Foundation prioritizes high-impact, evidence-based initiatives that expand healthcare options, promote healthier lifestyles, and ensure that all funds generated remain invested in the well-being of South Lake residents. Live Well exists to serve our South Lake Community today, and for generations to come.
